StudBudz Cancels Dave Portnoy Live Stream After Persistent Backlash From Angel Reese Fans

Angel Reese has been caught up in a situation in which she had no hand. Instead, it was the Chicago Sky stars who were upset at the possibility of her staunch critic, Dave Portnoy, appearing on the StudBudz’s live stream.

Ever since the Barstool Sports owner suggested that he could join the Minnesota Lynx duo on a live stream, Reese’s fans were in uproar. They constantly bombarded StudBudz’s duo, Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman, with comments asking them to cancel those plans.

The duo went on another live stream and promised that they would grill Portnoy over his relentless criticism of their friend. They assured that they were not going to let him walk away without facing those questions.

Even then, it did not help matters, and Reese’s fans were livid. Some of them even sent derogatory messages to the two point guards. Despite all that backlash, the pair again reiterated that they were not going to undermine the Sky forward.

It seems all those assurances failed to stop those livid fans from continuously attacking the pair. Finally, it seems Williams’ father had had enough and stepped in. He said this on social media, which should effectively end all doubts.

We just want to go light his a** up. With all the fans tripping, everybody saying this was going way too left. People feeling some type of way. They can’t go without parental consent. So, I canceled it. It’s over.

Donald Williams said

The former basketball player seems to have considered everything and asked his daughter and her teammate to cancel the idea of featuring Dave Portnoy on the live stream. This should pacify Angel Reese‘s fans.

StudBudz clap back at Angel Reese’s fans abandoning their stream

In between the first announcement of StudBudz possibly featuring Dave Portnoy on their stream and the cancellation, they lost a lot of subscribers. The pair went live on their stream to take a stand against the fans who had abandoned them.

We can’t be cancelled. We started streaming with 50 people on here. If we go back to 50, we gonna back to the 50 that love and rock with us genuinely. We don’t want the fake love. Keep the fake love.

Courtney Williams said

Since most of those were Angel Reese’s fans who were upset with the Minnesota Lynx pair‘s decision, the two made sure they called those fans out for their ‘fake love’. Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman made it clear that they will be fine even if they go back to just 50 subscribers.

StudBudz could continue breaking the WNBA’s mold

The pair of Williams and Hiedeman started the live stream out of fun. They knew they were hilarious together and wanted to see how far their chemistry and banter took them.

The stream started to gain pace when WNBA fans saw how genuine and unfiltered they were. Open conversations with fellow teammates, peers from other teams, etc., brought them consistent growth.

However, they really took off at the 2025 All-Star weekend. Fans could see first-hand how unserious WNBA players are when they are amongst themselves. The banter among all the women brought in more and more followers.

Then, when Caitlin Clark appeared on the stream and displayed her true self, the stream’s popularity soared. Fans were tuning in to watch their favorite superstar in her comfort zone, and there was none of the corporate attitude that the players have to maintain while on the court.

Partying late into the night, those unfiltered moments led many, including Dave Portnoy, to commend them for bringing WNBA fans together. There was no more bickering or faction wars. Everyone loved watching their stars be themselves.

Portnoy’s possible appearance seems to have brought back some aggressiveness from one section of fans. Thankfully, for the WNBA universe, it is not against another player. Therefore, even if it takes time, StudBudz should be able to bring back subscribers.
