Kate Abdo is ready to demand a whopping $20million to make her debut in the ring.
The 43-year-old media personality, who has been the face of CBS Sports’ football coverage since 2020, is married to boxing coach Malik Scott. She’s hosted the UEFA Champions League Today show alongside Micah Richards, Thierry Henry, and Jamie Carragher, and hosted Netflix’s coverage of Jake Paul’s fight with Mike Tyson.
Earlier this year, she tied the knot with Scott in a lavish ceremony in Malibu Hills, California. Scott, a former boxer himself, competed from 2000 to 2016, amassing a notable record of 38-3-1 and sharing the ring with the likes of Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder. He later transitioned into coaching, teaming up with ex-opponent Wilder and cornering bouts against Tyson Fury, Robert Helenius, Joseph Parker, and Zhilei Zhang.
Over the past year, Kate has shared several clips of her training with Malik. She’s been tipped to step into the ring sooner rather than later after impressing in footage shared on social media. Misfits co-founder Mams Taylor has previously agreed that the promotion would be open to having Kate on one of their cards. However, Scott has revealed his wife will only accept $20million to fight, the same sum Tyson earned for his defeat by Paul last month.
In a chat with JeffBet, he disclosed: “Twenty million dollars and I’m not familiar with any names. But I just know that will have to be the number. The number is 20 million dollars. It doesn’t matter the opponent, doesn’t matter the location or anything. You want to see my wife fight, you have to pay her top, top dollar.”
He further elaborated on the prospects of his wife Kate joining a Misfits card next year by saying, “We always talk about it. We’re always training. The only thing we really struggle with is time management. And that’s just creating a space of time for preparation. That’s the key to the fight happening. She’s interested in it, it’s something that I’m interested in. Obviously, I was more interested in it with her before I fell in love with her. But when I fell in love with her, obviously I’m like, ‘Oh, man, my wife is getting punched in the face,’ you know. That’s something else to deal with now. But coming from a competitive standpoint, I think it’s very, very good. It’s also a journey that we could take together.”

Speaking on the potential for sports broadcaster Kate Scott to enter the boxing world, an insider shared their enthusiasm about her possible career pivot: “It’s just all about the time and time management and being able to do it. But I’ve been in contact with Mams from Misfits for quite some time about it. They’re very, very interested in it, as you all know, and in the future, we’ll see. We got 2025 coming up, so we’ll see what’s happening. Mams is highly interested in Kate boxing, for sure. But that should really be no secret. Kate Scott, she’s a big name, and she has her own big platform. It would only do nothing but make their platform bigger.”
The source went on to express their high regard for Scott’s abilities and the impact her participation could have: “In my opinion, she would be the biggest star to me that ever entered Misfits, she’s the best sports broadcaster in the history of this business. And it’d be something that would shed light on their platform, and it definitely would shed light on our bond, on our journey together. And us doing something like that together, will raise the numbers. It’ll definitely raise the stock. And that’s another thing-the price will have to be right because she’s taking a chance.”
