The tragic incident occurred at the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Payne fell from the third floor. Authorities confirmed that the singer suffered fatal injuries in a fall from a height of about 13 to 14 meters, with the injuries classified as life-threatening.
Hotel staff had previously called local police for help, describing Payne as “overwhelmed by drugs and alcohol.” In a chilling 911 call, the hotel employee raised concerns about the balcony, saying, “We’re scared he might do something.” By the time police arrived, it was too late.
As news of Payne’s untimely death spread, condolences from his colleagues and friends poured in. Charlie Puth remembered him as “one of the first great artists I had the pleasure of working with,” while Ty Dolla $ign expressed his sadness, saying, “Just spoke to you two days ago, my boy.
