The boxing world is still reeling from Jake Paul‘s win over Mike Tyson – and Adam Kownacki might not be happy with the result either.
That’s after The Problem Child moved to 128th in the BoxRec heavyweight rankings as a result of his latest victory. That’s one place ahead of Babyface, who was once considered arguably the best prospect among the world’s elite heavyweights.
The Polish sensation is currently in the midst of a five-fight winless streak, having lost four of those via knockout. However, it wasn’t all that long ago Kownacki boasted an impressive 20-0 record, including one unanimous-decision victory over former IBF world champion Charles Martin.

It was back in 2018 that Kownacki – the proud owner of 15 knockout wins – soundly bested Martin over 10 rounds. And he was eventually ranked within the top six of all four major boxing organisations before back-to-back losses against Robert Helenius initiated a downward spiral in form that hasn’t stopped since.
Following those losses to Helenius, the Pole also succumbed to Ali Eren Demirezen, Joe Cusumano and Kacper Meyna. However, his defeat to Cusumano was later ruled a no contest due to the latter testing positive for a banned substance.
Babyface also took on fellow Pole Artur Szpilka, who challenged Deontay Wilder for the WBC title six months before their own scrap.
His latest loss to Meyna this past March resulted in a slide down to no.129 in the heavyweight rankings, while Paul is on the up after a conclusive win over Tyson. The 27-year-old ambled over the line against ‘Iron Mike’ after surviving some early danger, though there are those who disagree the fight should have had any implications on the pro sport.

“I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt somebody that didn’t need to be hurt,” said Paul after his latest win. Tyson, on the other hand, failed to generate the threat many fans were hoping for and looked all but out of the competition for the second half of the fight.
Tyson, on the other hand, has been ranked 309th in the world heavyweight stakes following his points defeat. The 58-year-old hadn’t fought in a professional setting since 2004 prior to Friday’s defeat, and that much showed in his performance.
Kownacki’s lowly standing reflects his own fall from grace after once being counted among the brightest talents in the heavyweight division. And slipping behind former Disney actor Paul may be just the motivation the 35-year-old needs to light a fire under him.
