Peyton Manning couldn’t help but take a dig at Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s fight on NFL coverage after a brawl was sparked.
The two-time Super Bowl winner was hosting the ‘ManningCast’ alongside his brother Eli and New England Patriots legendary coach Bill Belichick as they watched the Dallas Cowboys clash against the Houston Texans at the AT&T Stadium on Monday Night Football.
Three days earlier, the same stadium hosted Tyson’s return to professional boxing after 19 years when the former world heavyweight champion took on YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul. The fight was streamed on Netflix in the platform’s first venture into live sports broadcasting but failed to match the excitement surrounding the bout with Paul dominating the 58-year-old in the eight-round fight.

The event left fans disappointed with the lack of action in the main event while the undercard broadcast had been interrupted by buffering and crashing. In the following days, the fight has been the subject of various remarks and digs about the spectacle, with Manning taking his swipe on Monday night.
During the Texans’ 34-10 victory over the Cowboys, a fight broke out when KaVontae Turpin caught a kickoff and ran upfield before he was brought down. Turpin then got into a skirmish with Houston’s kicking team, sparking a mass brawl involving players from both teams as tempers boiled over.

As the fracas kicked off, Belichick referenced the fight that had taken place in the same stadium a couple of days beforehand. “They just had (a fight) down there on Friday night, right?” Belichick asked.
The former Patriots coach’s comment gave Peyton the chance to step in with a quick reply, quipping: “I think this one was better than the one Friday night,” as he took aim at the Netflix fight. The former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback’s opinion was popular among fans who saw Paul take advantage of the 31-year age difference.
Paul claimed after the fight that he didn’t want to knock Tyson out in the ring, saying: “I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt someone who didn’t need to be hurt.” Paul declared how he has “so much respect” for Tyson and hard feelings regarding Tyson slapping him during the pre-match weigh-in “kind of went away as the rounds went on.”

Meanwhile, the action-packed encounter between the Cowboys and Texans began hours before kick-off after part of the roof of the stadium fell onto the playing pitch as several people who were on the field preparing for broadcast avoided injury from falling debris.
The game was played with the roof closed after other sheets of metal appeared to be loose as the Texans compounded Dallas to a fifth-straight defeat. Houston’s social media poked more fun at Dallas after the game, posting a picture of the AT&T Stadium with two sheets of metal falling from the opening roof, adding the caption: “look out beLow,” capitalizing the ‘L’ in a further dig at the loss.
